The System Administrator is a hybrid position located in Telford, Pennsylvania.

 

The System Administrator with provide depth to the North America Regions System Administration Team by supporting the daily administration of servers, backups and monitoring.  Will also ensure the uptime and support of virtual environment, storage and other advanced technologies. 

 

  • Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, systems software and related infrastructure.  Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis; upgrade administrative tools and utilities; upgrade end user applications.  Configure / add new services as necessary. Design & Configure Virtual Systems and Hypervisors (VMWare, Proxmox, Hyper-V) and Operation Systems (Microsoft Windows and Linux). Will lead and cross train associate team members about supporting infrastructure to increase capacity and support flexibility.
  • Ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational standards and values. 
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and storage systems.  Configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.  Support server environment on software and hardware issues including server builds, configuration, installs and upgrades, operating systems, data backup and other software and hardware tools.  Will lead and cross train associate team members about supporting infrastructure to increase capacity and support flexibility.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Review and ensure daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.  On storage systems, perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
  • Manage the creation, change, and delete user accounts for server systems, storage systems and applications per request.
  • Oversee the application OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis; upgrade administrative tools and utilities; upgrade end user applications.  Configure / add new services as necessary.
  • Provide Tier II support to Service Desk personnel on workstation and application support issues as well as user and application account administration.  Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Performs other duties as needed and assigned.

 

Your Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar discipline or the equivalent in education, training and experience.

 

Related Experience

  • Minimum three year’s IT experience
  • Management/Administrative hands on experience with virtualized systems
  • Strong technical skills, attention to detail and ability to work in stressful high paced environments
  • Experience managing ticket queues, performing permission changes and willingness (ability) to learn quickly
  • Basic understanding of Networking (TCP/IP, DNS. DHCP)
  • Azure/AWS services

 

Special Competencies or Certifications

  • Experience with Azure Arch a plus
  • Management/Administrative hands on experience with backup and recovery concepts
  • Experience with virtualization (VMWare, Proxmox and/or Microsoft Hyper-V)
  • Experience with PC and server hardware and must possess good analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and/or knowledge of when to escalate for assistance
