The Job Responsibilities
We are hiring an Operation Manager to be based on on-site 5 days a week in our Kingston Ontario location.
The Operations Manager works closely with the Business Manager the Operation/Production manager will oversee the daily operations and to carry out the organizations vision and directives. This position will be responsible for the overall performance of the Operations team for production, materials, inventory control, logistics and customer service across projects, products and services for both Canada and the USA.
Main Responsibilities
- Plan and manage the daily activities of a team of technicians across project work both in shop and customer site installation, production batch builds and service calls. Ensure accurate and timely communication of production plans, actual production status, and potential/upcoming risks to production.
- Leverage Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and process experience to measure, analyze and implement information and work flow initiatives to drive productivity improvements and cost savings.
- Foster a culture of quality through awareness and collaboration and by identifying and executing quality improvement inititiatives. Work with the country Quality Manager to maintain compliance to company directives, SOP’s and industry regulations. Ensure that Health & Safety procedures and objectives are being met for all operations activity.
- Provide leadership and vision for department, with recommendations for advancement of the group, as well as the products and services that we provide. Attract and retain a talented operations team and develop towards production excellance through a collaborative culture.
- Set goals, create development plans and conduct performance reviews of all reports in accordance with Synergies for Success.
- Work with other Draeger entities in Canada, USA and globally to build efficient intercompany business systems.
- Manage, and perform as needed, the materials purchasing and logistics function.
- Performs other duties as needed and assigned.
Your Qualifications
- Post secondary degree/diploma or skilled trades background with applicable supervisory and/or management experience.
- 5-8 years of related experience managing direct reports and performing production, materials, inventory control, logistics and customer service (installation and follow on service).
- Skilled in people management including leadership competencies according to the LEAD criteria.
- Ability to manage and lead diverse teams.
- Strong negotiation, analysis & problem solving skills.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
- Good understanding of OH&S legislation and Quality principles.
- Highly organized with the ability to train, motivate and maintain an efficient and energetic team environment.
- A passion for delivering excellence in Customer Satisfaction.
- Preferably some experience or exposure to Change Management practices.
- A “roll up your sleeves” operating style.
- Ability to work with a variety of technical disciplines and levels both internally and externally (local, regional, global).
- Strong computer skills in general with required Microsoft applications
- Must have recent and active experience using SAP or similar ERP system
