This position is responsible to build and install electrical control systems for Engineered Solution (ES) projects during the manufacture and installation of complete systems. This includes writing programs for PLC/HMI, making electrical drawings, assisting with panel building/wire pulls/ terminations, building custom wireless remotes, programming/soldering microcontrollers, and troubleshooting overall systems. Manufacturing and installation work can be required onsite at Draeger’s facility in Kingston ON (Canada), fabrication shops, or at customer sites, primarily in North America. Up to 25% travel to customer sites.
Build and install electrical control systems
- In accordance with relevant codes and standards, including e.g. but not limited to CSA B149, CSA SPE-1000, NFPA 86, NFPA 70, UL795 and TSSA regulations (in Ontario)
- In alignment with the designs provided by Draeger’s project engineering
Testing and commissioning
- Inspect the systems according to Draeger’s internal Acceptance Test Protocol (ATP)
- Test and commission electrical control systems to meet project requirements
Other General Functions
- Work in a multi-disciplinary team which has responsibility for the manufacture and installation of complete projects
- Work with 3rd party authorities on field inspection and approvals
- Provide Operator and Maintenance Training according to Draeger’s procedures
- Ensure documentation of testing, training, handover etc. according to Draeger’s requirements
- Provide customer service including troubleshooting
- Ensures manufacturing area is maintained clean and sorted
- Adheres to appropriate safety requirements in all aspects of work
Your Qualifications
Education:
Electrical Engineering Technologist/Technician, Instrumentation and Controls Engineering Technologist/Technician, or equivalent Diploma or equivalent work experience.
Related Experience:
Two or more years’ experience in electrical technology design, manufacturing and installation, preferably involving applications in industrial environments.
Special Competencies or Certifications:
- Must possess exceptional organization skills. Excellent verbal and written communications capabilities required. Thorough understanding and demonstrated working knowledge of the laws and regulations related to the scope of work.
- Ability to deal professionally and courteously with internal and external contacts. Proven experience working with confidential and sensitive information, ability to work on multiple priorities in a fast paced environment, strong attention to detail is required on a daily basis.
Technical:
- Knowledge of different types HMI (Siemens, Schneider, Omron)
- Knowledge of variable frequency drives Knowledge of conduit construction and installation
- Knowledge of running wire, making connections and labelling
- Knowledge of relevant codes, standards and guidelines (e.g. CSA, TSSA, NFPA)
- Knowledge of equipment to select for field installations
- Ability to program PLC Systems. (Siemens, Schneider, Omron)
- Ability to create technical drawings (e.g. AutoCad) of the control system configuration
- Ability to read technical drawings (e.g. AutoCad, SolidWorks) to mount electrical equipment according to design

Compensation:
The targeted pay range for this position is typically between $69,400-$83,300 CAD. We note that the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. This position is eligible for an annual bonus.
